Red corridors now green zones of growth and development, says Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said that peace and progress have defined this decade, with the red corridor of the past changing to green zones of growth. He also lauded the success of Operation Sindoor.

“Under Operation Sindoor, the houses of the masters of terrorists were razed to the ground within 22 minutes. The world has been very attracted to this new form of ‘Made in India’ military power. These days, whenever I meet people of the world, the world’s attraction towards the Made in India weapons being made by India is increasing,” Modi said in his customary remarks before the beginning of regular proceeding of the Monsoon Session.

The session will comprise 21 sittings spread over 32 days and will conclude on August 21. In between, both Houses will be adjourned on August 12, 2025, and will reassemble on Monday, August 18, to facilitate Independence Day celebrations.

Highlighting the government’s efforts to curb Naxalism, he noted that India has endured many violent challenges — be it terrorism or Naxalism — but now, the influence of Naxalism and Maoism is shrinking rapidly. “The Constitution prevails over bombs and guns. The red corridors of the past are now transforming into green zones of growth and development,” he added

India Eyes No 3 Global Spot

Talking about India’s economic progress, Modi said that before 2014, the country ranked tenth in the global economy, but now it is swiftly moving ahead towards becoming the third-largest economy. “There was a time in the country before 2014 when the inflation rate was in double digits. Today, with the rate dropping to around two per cent, it has become a relief and a convenience in the lives of the common people in the country,” he said, adding that 25 crore people have come out of poverty.

Noting that monsoon is a symbol of innovation and new creation, Modi said, “There are reports of beneficial season for agriculture. And rain is very important for the economy of farmers, the country’s economy, rural economy and not only this, the economy of every family.”

Earlier, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, in a social media post, urged the leaders of all parties and members to cooperate in the smooth functioning of the House, constructive discussions, and healthy democratic dialogue, so that the house can take concrete steps toward inclusive development, social justice, and economic progress. “It is hoped that this Monsoon Session, dedicated to the dignity of democracy, the prestige of Parliament, and the priority of public welfare, will be meaningful and successful, and together we will make significant contributions toward strengthening democratic consciousness, unity in diversity, and constitutional values,” he said.

Meanwhile, Congress and INDIA bloc MPs submitted multiple adjournment notices in both Houses, seeking urgent discussions on the Pahalgam terror attack and Operation Sindoor.

Seven pending Bills have been listed for consideration and passing while eight new Bills have also been listed for introduction, consideration and passing this session. They are: The Manipur Goods and Services Tax (Amendment) Bill, 2025 — which will replace an ordinance; The Taxation Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2025; The Indian Institutes of Management (Amendment) Bill, 2025; The Jan Vishwas (Amendment of Provisions) Bill, 2025; The National Sports Governance Bill, 2025; The National Anti-Doping (Amendment) Bill, 2025; The Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation Amendment Bill, 2025; The Geoheritage Sites and Geo-relics (Preservation and Maintenance) Bill, 2025.
